The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO), on April 21, 2025, notified regarding the detonator manufacturing licences granted under LE-1, possession and sale & use granted under LE-3 of Explosives Rules,2008 - phasing out of Electric Detonators.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It has come to the notice of the organisation from the SETT transaction details, i.e. large Nos of Electric Detonators are available in the market right from the manufacturer to the dealer end. In line with Gazette Notification April 03, 2025, it is imperative that all Electric Detonators have to be exhausted before the cut-off date, i.e June 30, 2025.
• Hence, an advisory is issued to all the manufacturers to review the production plan of Electric Detonators to produce Electric Detonators if required while considering the demand ratio from the stakeholders and to ensure compliance with Gazette Notification, dated April 02, 2025, directing to phase out Electric Detonators with effect from June 30, 2025.
• Again, form LE-3 (Licensee holder in 21 and 22) are advised to ensure exhaustion of the stock available with them and plan accordingly to eliminate Electric Detonators in their possession on June 30, 2025. The above directions shall be followed and strictly complied with.
